Cookies, cookies, cookies

I recently began decorating cookies during my girls nap time and fell in love with it. It's so fun! I've always wanted to decorate cute cookies for the holidays, especially now that I have 2 little girls. I thought it'd make sweet memories for us and maybe spark an interest in cooking/baking when they're older :) I'm working on a new blog that focuses more on my cookies-prices, Q&A, etc. If you need sweet treats for a birthday party, engagement party, girls night out, or any occasion, please keep me in mind :)

2 Months

Sweet sweet Sadie Bell turned 2 months yesterday. She is growing, growing, growing!

At 2 months you:
. Probably weigh btwn 10-12 lbs
. Have basically outgrown most 0-3 month clothes
. Wear size 1 diaper but have almost outgrown them
. Nurse every 2 hrs. You're learning to be patient and stretch your feedings a bit
. Still hate pacifiers
. Take one nap a day- I've tried everything to help you nap more but you can't stay asleep
. Your nap is btwn 2-4 hrs
. Love your play mat
. Are finding your fingers
. Love to talk and smile
. Love your sis- you watch her all day
. Wake up once at night- usually btwn 4-5:30
. Have to be swaddled to sleep
. Take 15 mg of Prevacid for acid reflux
. Turned into a happy baby this month
. Love your bath
. Look just like sis

Sadie Bell you are a true joy. You have turned into a happy baby and are so sweet. I can't believe how big you are getting. Thank you for being an easy baby for momma and putting up with your crazy big sister. You bring so much joy to our family and I can't imagine this life without my sweet Sades.

One Month

happy one month birthday Sadie! It honestly feels like you have been here forever so I guess you could say your first month has gone by slow but it definitely has been eventful. You are such a sweet baby(when your tummy or acid aren't bothering you) and are a trooper when it comes to your big sis. You've been through a lot this month but haven't complained a bit. You were born looking identical to your sis but now look like me ( according to my family). I can definitely see a resemblance when I compare baby pictures. You are a great night sleeper like your sis and have acid reflux but that's about the only thing yall share in common. It's fun having a completely different baby but it also throws me for a loop sometimes :)

At one month you:

. Weigh a little over 8 lbs
. Wear NB diapers
. Some NB onesies are getting snug
. Nurse every 2 hrs during the day- you definitely don't like to wait :)
. You've been having 4-6 hr stretches at night but you've slept from 10-6 the last 2 nights
. Only take 2 good naps during the day- your acid/tummy hurts you
. Are very alert and make great eye contact
. Have big blue eyes
. Take 15 mg of Prevacid for acid reflux but it doesn't seem to be helping. This was the only medicine that helped sis so mom and dad are stumped
. Went to the ER and stayed in the hospital for 2 days when you were a week old. It was awful but you were such a tough girl

Birth Story

Sadie Bell McEntire arrived Sunday, June 10 at 11:21 AM. She was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20.5 in long

I woke up at 4 AM thinking I had a contraction. Sure enough that's what it was so I decided to time them just to make sure. From 4-5 AM my contractions were 3.5 minutes apart. I woke up Billy to give him a heads up and hoped he would go back to sleep. Of course he didn't and decided to let his mom know I was in labor because she was planning on spending the day with Tatum anyway. I showered and finished packing my hospital bag around 6. At that point my contractions were 2 minutes apart. We headed for the hospital around 6:30 and my contractions were a little over a minute apart and getting stronger.

I had been at a one and 50% effaced for 2 weeks. They checked me around 7:00 in triage and I was at a 5 and 80% effaced. I was shocked because the pain was very manageable at that point. They admitted me and my parents were in the room waiting for us.

My doc came in at 8:45 to break my water. I was almost 8 centimeters dilated. Contractions got a little stronger but I felt like I had more time in between to relax than I did with Tatum so it really wasn't bad at all. My doc checked me around 10:45 and that's when things really got rolling. I was flat on my back about to be checked during my biggest contraction which really hurt. He waited for me to get through the contraction but then I had another one while he was checking me. It hurt so bad that it felt like I needed to push. At that point I was almost at a 9 and Sadie was stationed at a +1 so she was still a little high. I asked my doc how much longer till she's here and he said she'd be born at 11:26.

Contractions definitely got worse and then shortly after my check I felt so much pressure like I needs to push. This was the only part I dreaded about another natural birth because you want/need to push SO bad but they won't let you. It felt like I waited forever to finally push. The only thing I could do was hold on to the side of the bed and try to breathe through it. I accidentally called the nurse twice because of how I was laying and was trying to apologize during contractions.

My doc ran down the hall to my room because "go time" came so quickly and he was busy with another patient. I pushed once just a little bit because I couldn't stand not to anymore. Then he said to take a breath and push. I did and her head came out! I was so shocked that I stopped pushing and asked if that really just happened? Then one more push and Miss Sadie was born! 7 lbs 4 oz 20.5 in long and looked identical to her sister! I seriously felt like I was holding Tatum.

I asked doc what the damage was because she came out so fast and he didn't have time to stretch me at all. Thankfully it was only a 2nd degree tear which is what I had with Tatum. I definitely wasn't prepared for the next hour. I had cramping SO bad it felt like I was having another baby. Apparently that is normal for a 2nd vaginal delivery but my goodness was it painful. Everyone came in to meet Sadie, including Tatum, after I was stitched up (he had to go in 3 times after he stitched me because not all of the placenta came out). I was in so much pain I could barely talk. Not exactly how I pictured Tatum meeting Sadie but that's okay. She's too young to know what was going on anyway. My recovery has been SO much better this time. Other than crazy cramping the first week, I've felt really good!

Sadie has been great (other than a trip to the ER on her one week birthday and a 2 day stay in the hospital. More on that later)
She's a great nurser, great sleeper, and only fusses if she's hungry or can't burp. Tatum has been great with her and loves to give her kisses, wave to her and attempt to say her name :)

Friends were asking if Sadie's birth or Tatum's birth was harder. Tatum was born in 7 hours and Sadie was born in just under 7.5 hours. I progressed very quickly with both girls and was at a 1, 50% when labor started with both. I will say the pain level of contractions were equal but the end Sadie's birth was more intense. Mostly because I had to wait so long before I could push and that is the most uncomfortable part for me. BUT it was awesome that I only had to push twice! With Tatum I pushed for 30 minutes which still wasn't bad at all. I will say that I am done having babies for a couple of years :)

40 weeks

My due date isn't until Saturday but I had my appointment yesterday and I'm still a 1, 50% and sister is high. I wasn't disappointed that I haven't progressed any because I was the same with Tatum but it did stink to hear that she's high. My doc is thinking she'll be 7+ lbs which makes sense why I'm so much more uncomfortable this time. And I'm carrying her way lower than Tatum which doesn't help.

My due date and weekly appointments are throwing me off because I keep thinking I'm past due since he checks me on Tuesdays but she doesn't turn another week older till Saturday. I'm trying to remember I'm not as far along as I think I am so I don't get discouraged :). I just really hope I don't have to be induced. I'd love to have another natural birth and I don't see that being the case if he induces me. All of Billy's family will be here this weekend for our nephew's baseball tournament so I'm going to walk my booty off and hopefully I'll go into labor when they're here!

39 week update

I'm not 39 weeks till Saturday but I had my appointment today. I'm at a 1 and 50% effaced, woohoo! Progress! I was the same with Tatum up until my water broke so we'll see if I progress anymore this week. My doc still thinks sister will be very close to 7 lbs if not 7. He also thinks she'll be here before 41 weeks so hopefully he's right and I won't have to be induced.
Tomorrow Billy and I will be married for 3 years! Never in a million years when I said "I do" did I think we'd celebrate our 3rd anniversary with a 15 month old and 38.5 weeks pregnant.
Friday will be an exciting day because I will get to meet my nephew Charlie! Brooke, my SIL, is having a planned C-section Friday morning. We share the same doctor so hopefully it won't be like Father of the Bride ll :) it still hasn't hit me that I can have a baby any moment but I'm sure meeting Charlie will make it feel very real
