Cookies, cookies, cookies

I recently began decorating cookies during my girls nap time and fell in love with it. It's so fun! I've always wanted to decorate cute cookies for the holidays, especially now that I have 2 little girls. I thought it'd make sweet memories for us and maybe spark an interest in cooking/baking when they're older :) I'm working on a new blog that focuses more on my cookies-prices, Q&A, etc. If you need sweet treats for a birthday party, engagement party, girls night out, or any occasion, please keep me in mind :)

2 Months

Sweet sweet Sadie Bell turned 2 months yesterday. She is growing, growing, growing!

At 2 months you:
. Probably weigh btwn 10-12 lbs
. Have basically outgrown most 0-3 month clothes
. Wear size 1 diaper but have almost outgrown them
. Nurse every 2 hrs. You're learning to be patient and stretch your feedings a bit
. Still hate pacifiers
. Take one nap a day- I've tried everything to help you nap more but you can't stay asleep
. Your nap is btwn 2-4 hrs
. Love your play mat
. Are finding your fingers
. Love to talk and smile
. Love your sis- you watch her all day
. Wake up once at night- usually btwn 4-5:30
. Have to be swaddled to sleep
. Take 15 mg of Prevacid for acid reflux
. Turned into a happy baby this month
. Love your bath
. Look just like sis

Sadie Bell you are a true joy. You have turned into a happy baby and are so sweet. I can't believe how big you are getting. Thank you for being an easy baby for momma and putting up with your crazy big sister. You bring so much joy to our family and I can't imagine this life without my sweet Sades.

One Month

happy one month birthday Sadie! It honestly feels like you have been here forever so I guess you could say your first month has gone by slow but it definitely has been eventful. You are such a sweet baby(when your tummy or acid aren't bothering you) and are a trooper when it comes to your big sis. You've been through a lot this month but haven't complained a bit. You were born looking identical to your sis but now look like me ( according to my family). I can definitely see a resemblance when I compare baby pictures. You are a great night sleeper like your sis and have acid reflux but that's about the only thing yall share in common. It's fun having a completely different baby but it also throws me for a loop sometimes :)

At one month you:

. Weigh a little over 8 lbs
. Wear NB diapers
. Some NB onesies are getting snug
. Nurse every 2 hrs during the day- you definitely don't like to wait :)
. You've been having 4-6 hr stretches at night but you've slept from 10-6 the last 2 nights
. Only take 2 good naps during the day- your acid/tummy hurts you
. Are very alert and make great eye contact
. Have big blue eyes
. Take 15 mg of Prevacid for acid reflux but it doesn't seem to be helping. This was the only medicine that helped sis so mom and dad are stumped
. Went to the ER and stayed in the hospital for 2 days when you were a week old. It was awful but you were such a tough girl

Birth Story

Sadie Bell McEntire arrived Sunday, June 10 at 11:21 AM. She was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20.5 in long

I woke up at 4 AM thinking I had a contraction. Sure enough that's what it was so I decided to time them just to make sure. From 4-5 AM my contractions were 3.5 minutes apart. I woke up Billy to give him a heads up and hoped he would go back to sleep. Of course he didn't and decided to let his mom know I was in labor because she was planning on spending the day with Tatum anyway. I showered and finished packing my hospital bag around 6. At that point my contractions were 2 minutes apart. We headed for the hospital around 6:30 and my contractions were a little over a minute apart and getting stronger.

I had been at a one and 50% effaced for 2 weeks. They checked me around 7:00 in triage and I was at a 5 and 80% effaced. I was shocked because the pain was very manageable at that point. They admitted me and my parents were in the room waiting for us.

My doc came in at 8:45 to break my water. I was almost 8 centimeters dilated. Contractions got a little stronger but I felt like I had more time in between to relax than I did with Tatum so it really wasn't bad at all. My doc checked me around 10:45 and that's when things really got rolling. I was flat on my back about to be checked during my biggest contraction which really hurt. He waited for me to get through the contraction but then I had another one while he was checking me. It hurt so bad that it felt like I needed to push. At that point I was almost at a 9 and Sadie was stationed at a +1 so she was still a little high. I asked my doc how much longer till she's here and he said she'd be born at 11:26.

Contractions definitely got worse and then shortly after my check I felt so much pressure like I needs to push. This was the only part I dreaded about another natural birth because you want/need to push SO bad but they won't let you. It felt like I waited forever to finally push. The only thing I could do was hold on to the side of the bed and try to breathe through it. I accidentally called the nurse twice because of how I was laying and was trying to apologize during contractions.

My doc ran down the hall to my room because "go time" came so quickly and he was busy with another patient. I pushed once just a little bit because I couldn't stand not to anymore. Then he said to take a breath and push. I did and her head came out! I was so shocked that I stopped pushing and asked if that really just happened? Then one more push and Miss Sadie was born! 7 lbs 4 oz 20.5 in long and looked identical to her sister! I seriously felt like I was holding Tatum.

I asked doc what the damage was because she came out so fast and he didn't have time to stretch me at all. Thankfully it was only a 2nd degree tear which is what I had with Tatum. I definitely wasn't prepared for the next hour. I had cramping SO bad it felt like I was having another baby. Apparently that is normal for a 2nd vaginal delivery but my goodness was it painful. Everyone came in to meet Sadie, including Tatum, after I was stitched up (he had to go in 3 times after he stitched me because not all of the placenta came out). I was in so much pain I could barely talk. Not exactly how I pictured Tatum meeting Sadie but that's okay. She's too young to know what was going on anyway. My recovery has been SO much better this time. Other than crazy cramping the first week, I've felt really good!

Sadie has been great (other than a trip to the ER on her one week birthday and a 2 day stay in the hospital. More on that later)
She's a great nurser, great sleeper, and only fusses if she's hungry or can't burp. Tatum has been great with her and loves to give her kisses, wave to her and attempt to say her name :)

Friends were asking if Sadie's birth or Tatum's birth was harder. Tatum was born in 7 hours and Sadie was born in just under 7.5 hours. I progressed very quickly with both girls and was at a 1, 50% when labor started with both. I will say the pain level of contractions were equal but the end Sadie's birth was more intense. Mostly because I had to wait so long before I could push and that is the most uncomfortable part for me. BUT it was awesome that I only had to push twice! With Tatum I pushed for 30 minutes which still wasn't bad at all. I will say that I am done having babies for a couple of years :)

40 weeks

My due date isn't until Saturday but I had my appointment yesterday and I'm still a 1, 50% and sister is high. I wasn't disappointed that I haven't progressed any because I was the same with Tatum but it did stink to hear that she's high. My doc is thinking she'll be 7+ lbs which makes sense why I'm so much more uncomfortable this time. And I'm carrying her way lower than Tatum which doesn't help.

My due date and weekly appointments are throwing me off because I keep thinking I'm past due since he checks me on Tuesdays but she doesn't turn another week older till Saturday. I'm trying to remember I'm not as far along as I think I am so I don't get discouraged :). I just really hope I don't have to be induced. I'd love to have another natural birth and I don't see that being the case if he induces me. All of Billy's family will be here this weekend for our nephew's baseball tournament so I'm going to walk my booty off and hopefully I'll go into labor when they're here!

39 week update

I'm not 39 weeks till Saturday but I had my appointment today. I'm at a 1 and 50% effaced, woohoo! Progress! I was the same with Tatum up until my water broke so we'll see if I progress anymore this week. My doc still thinks sister will be very close to 7 lbs if not 7. He also thinks she'll be here before 41 weeks so hopefully he's right and I won't have to be induced.
Tomorrow Billy and I will be married for 3 years! Never in a million years when I said "I do" did I think we'd celebrate our 3rd anniversary with a 15 month old and 38.5 weeks pregnant.
Friday will be an exciting day because I will get to meet my nephew Charlie! Brooke, my SIL, is having a planned C-section Friday morning. We share the same doctor so hopefully it won't be like Father of the Bride ll :) it still hasn't hit me that I can have a baby any moment but I'm sure meeting Charlie will make it feel very real

38 Weeks

Right now I feel like I should be 43 weeks. The last few days I've been pretty uncomfortable and have had more stretching. Grow baby grow! Not much has changed since last weeks appointment. My cervix has softened but that's about it. Im just now 38 weeks but have my 39 week appointment Tuesday so hopefully I've made progress this week. My doc thinks the baby is around 6.5 lbs right now. Tatum was 6 lbs 11 oz so they will probably be close in weight. Doc thinks sister will be Tatum's size or a little bigger if I have her a few days before 40 weeks like Tatum. I've gained 32 lbs thus far and the biggest part of my stomach is 43"

37 Weeks

I'm full term this week, crazy! Thankfully I haven't been too uncomfortable this week. Week 35 and 36 I had a lot of stretching, the baby dropped, and Tatum was fussy so I'm glad that's over. I was worn out. I've been taking naps the last few days and that has seemed to help. I haven't napped hardly any this trimester because I won't sleep good at night if I do but I haven't been sleeping good anyway so I figured I might as well give in to an afternoon nap.

I was checked this week and there's nothing going on down there. I thought I would be disappointed but I didn't care. I was just glad it didn't hurt this time around. I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced at 38 and 39 weeks with Tatum so we'll see if anything changes next week.

I've had a few more contractions but nothing major. I had them for 30-45 minutes a few nights ago and that's about it.

I lost a lb. this week- how did that happen? Because I have not slowed down on on the sweets one bit. I didn't gain any weight at 37 weeks with Tatum. Maybe there's something special about 37 weeks? Who knows. As of right now I've gained 30 lbs. I think I gained 32 or 35 lbs with Tatum.

The nursery isn't finished but it's come a long way. The walls and changing table are painted. Curtains are made and baby's clothes are put away. My mom recovered a lamp for me so I'm busy making yo-yo's to go on the shade. I packed our hospital this week and made a couple of matching shirts for the girls.

Easter

Easter didn't turn out the way we planned this year. We decided to stay here because my brother and sis-in-law were visiting from Colorado. This was our first Easter in 3 years to not go to Conway. The original plan was to have Easter at my parents Saturday night, Sunday church with my whole fam, then off to my grandparents for lunch.

Tatum came down with a cough last Thursday but seemed to be fine. Friday we went to First Friday in Bentonville with my fam. Her cough seemed worse but she still acted fine. I had been taking her temp and she never had a fever. She was super tired Saturday morning so I took her temp but it took forever for it to register so we went to Walmart to get a better thermometer. Took her temp around noon and it was 103, yikes! She has never been sick other than a cold.

Her temp was 101 after her nap so we decided to still do Easter that night at my parents. she hunted Easter eggs and was in a good mood. We planned on going to the 9:00 service Sunday morning, but decided we wouldn't wake her up because she was so tired the day before. She has never slept passed 8. Poor girl woke up at 10:45. She had 101-102 fever all day and shallow breathing so we decided to stay home. I hate she didn't get to wear her Easter outfit. Billys dad got it for her and its so cute!

We took her to the doc Monday and they sent us to get a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. Turns out she has bacterial and viral pneumonia. Oh and she's teething on top of that. Other than looking at her red eyes and her yucky cough, you would never know shes sick. She hasn't fussed at all! Such a trooper! She's on an antibiotic for 10 days and is doing much better. She barely ate for a few days which stressed me out because I'm a control freak but she didn't seem to mind. Thankfully she ate good today. It's been a crazy couple of days!

32 weeks

I started every 2 week appointments and tomorrow I'll be 32 weeks. Still haven't figured out how that happened so quickly! My friend had her baby yesterday just shy of 38 weeks so panic mode has really sunk in considering we have accomplished NOTHING. Im feeling very pregnant these days but it still hasn't hit me that we will be having another baby very soon. I finally picked out fabric for her curtains so hopefully we can get those made in a week or 2.

We're not doing bedding because the bumper pad scares me, and her crib is too low for a crib skirt. We are planning on painting her room and changing table (if my dad makes one) but I don't know when that will be. Poor Billy is so busy on the weekends, so hopefully he'll get a free weekend soon.

My 32 week appt went great. Sister's heartbeat was between 130s-160s (big jump) and momma's tummy is measuring right on track(although it looks and feels huge). I've had a few contractions with this one and a sore tailbone. I had 3 major leg cramps last night in bed which is always fun, ha! I hate those things...I'm too big to move that fast when they hit

31 weeks

My friends water broke yesterday morning at 12:30 and I was able to visit with her for a little bit before Titus made his arrival. It was so fun! I was seriously giddy all day. She delivered in the same room as me which brought back so many memories. I was very thankful for my giddiness because while I would like to have another natural birth, I haven't been as excited this time around. Thankfully that changed yesterday because all I could think about was giving birth, which I really enjoyed, and holding my tiny baby. I pray I can do it natural because I truly did love everything about Tatum's birth. The pain and all. It was such a beautiful experience. However, I'm not getting my hopes up because I'm sure this birth will be nothing like Tatum's.

30 Weeks

This pregnancy is flying by!! Half the time I don't feel pregnant (even with my huge belly) and I only have 10 weeks or less to go, crazy!! We've done absolutely nothing to the nursery. Hopefully we'll get down to business soon but the realization of baby sister coming soon hasn't sunk in. We do have a crib so if all else fails, she at least has a place to sleep.

I wanted to document a few things about this pregnancy so I'll remember for the next one :)
.sister's heartbeat was in the mid 140s today
.she likes to stay right behind my belly button or a little to the right. This has made her kicks & big movements uncomfortable. It's also hard to keep Tatum from kneeing her when I hold her
.I definitely have had more heartburn. I only had it a few times with Tatum but I have it almost every night with sister
.I don't feel like sister is as active as Tatum was, but it's probably that I don't notice her movements since I'm busy chasing a 13 month old. She has been moving a lot more the last few nights
.I crave sweets. all.the.time. i haven't even tried to control myself which is terrible, I know. I've gained 22 lbs. I didn't keep track with Tatum but I think I gained 30-35? If I keep goin at this rate, I will blow that number outta the water

13 Months

I wasn't planning on continuing Tatum's monthly updates, but I wanted to document this month just in case I need it for future babies. Mainly her eating schedule since she has never been a big eater and the new baby could be the same.

At 13 months you:
.probably weigh 20 lbs
.wear size 2 shoe (the top of your feet are too chubby for most & your foot is still small for 2s but
we make it work)
.wear size 4 diaper
.wear 12 month clothes, some 12-18
.get 24 oz of formula in a sippy cup(ab to switch to milk since you're eating better)
.you drink 6 oz when you get up in the morning, cereal & fruit 30 min later, snack, lunch, 6 oz before nap, 4 oz after nap, dinner, 8 oz before bed
.you've been teething 2 or 3 top teeth for months & we can finally feel your front right tooth
.you have taken 15 steps by yourself
.wake up between 7-7:30, sometimes take a morning nap, nap from 2-4, bedtime at 8

Tatum you are so much fun. You are the sweetest baby and bring so much joy to our lives. You already love being momma's helper and I have a feeling you are going to be baby sister's momma as well. You are still so hilarious and always keep us laughing!

12 Months

My sweet baby turned one a week ago. How did that happen so quickly?? I guess this will be my last monthly update until I start again with #2 in 3 short months.

At 12 months you:
.weigh 19.5 lbs
.28 inches tall
.10% height, 25% weight, 75% head
.still on formula until you eat more table food
.love strawberry, cheese & pickle
.wear 12-18 month clothes
.wear size 4 diaper
.usually take 2 naps- morning 1-1.5 hrs, afternoon 2-2.5 hrs
.Bedtime at 8 & up around 7:30
.say momma,dada, baby, hi, bye
.you blow kisses, pray, quack like a duck, make a slurping noise when you give your baby doll her bottle, rock your baby
.you are standing by yourself for longer periods
.walk holding on with one hand but are pretty wobbly
.basically off the bottle- only get one at bedtime
.get 4 sippy cups of milk (4-6 oz). You get less milk so hopefully this will make you hungrier for real food
.cuddle a lot more :)

You are still the sweetest & funniest baby. You truly do live up to your name because you have such a joyful spirit. We love you big as the world.

11 months

Tatum turned 11 months three days ago and I just can't believe it. My baby is getting so big way too fast and I don't know if my lovely pregnancy hormones can take it. Tatum is so much fun these days and is such a little stinker.

She was supposed to be napping but instead took her pants off so I had to take a pic. So ornery!

At 11 months you:
.weigh close to 20 lb
.wear mostly 12 months but pants are too long
.wear size 4 diaper
.cutting 4 top teeth
.getting lots of hair
.wake up between 6:30-7:30. You have been waking up at random times in the early a.m. but go back to sleep. I think it's bc you're teething
.bedtime at 8
.you drink 5 6 oz bottles
.eat oatmeal & yogurt for breakfast, followed by a bottle 30
min later
.eating started slow but you're doing great now
.eat 1/2 jar of baby food for lunch & dinner, followed by bottles
.working on real food-you've had mandarin oranges, strawberries, green beans & carrots
.you LOVE Andy Griffith. You watch an episode with your nap & bedtime bottles
.say hi, bye bye, mama, dada, ball
.you put your cell phone to your ear when we say hello
.nap twice a day-morning 1-1.5 hrs, afternoon 2-2.5 hrs
.walk by yourself with walking toys
.shake your head no & nod yes
.pull up on everything
.getting too big for your car seat

I don't want to compare my girls but I really hope baby sister is as happy as Tatum. You are the happiest most joyful child ever. It's so fun watching your sweet personality develop

Tatum says...

Thats right! This little gal is going to have a SISTER!! I was SHOCKED when we heard "its a girl". Billy and I both really thought it was a boy. Like to the point where we said "he" and called him by name a few times (sorry sweet girl). Yesterday i was still certain it was a boy but Billy was thinkin girl and didn't tell me. I seriously couldn't stop laughing when we found out because I was so surprised.

We are both thrilled that we will have two girls 15 1/2 months apart. Can you say mad house?!
I really hope baby sister is tough because Tatum is seriously a brute!

We have zero names because I didn't think we needed one since it was a boy. I really hope she's named before she's born but we are stumped right now. Tatum came to us so easily and I really didn't think we'd have more girls so I wasn't worried.

The ultrasound looked great. Baby girl is measuring 20 weeks and is healthy. It was so fun telling friends and family because 4 people out of at least 20 said girl. Needless to say, almost everyone was probably as surprised as we were when they saw Tatum's "It's a girl" picture.

Well, 20 weeks down, 20 or less weeks to go. Crazy! My doc is so funny because I really expected to get in trouble about my weight gain( seriously gained like 4 lbs in 2 weeks) so when he didn't mention it I asked him about it. Haha he chuckles and says "well it is a bit aggressive". Billy and I started cracking up! It was the nicest way a doc can comment and we thought it was so funny. Anyway, I have got to stop baking cookies every WEEK and put down the skittles while I bake. So here's to a new week with less sweets.

19 weeks

We find out the gender of this lil baby on Tuesday! I'm starting to get really excited! We have a boy name picked out but haven't really thought of girl names-i cant make up my mind. Honestly we both really think it's a boy so girl names have been hard. I will be SHOCKED if theres a lil gal growin in there but I'll be super excited with either. I just really think it's a lil guy.
I'm afraid I'm gonna get a finger wave at my appointment because I haven't been staying away from sweets and I'm pretty sure I've put on 2 or 3 lbs in the last week...oops! I gained weight fast the first half of my pregnancy with Tates and then things leveled out for a while so I'm hoping this pregnancy will be the same. We shall see.
I didn't take a pic this week but here I am at 18 weeks

My next post will be a gender reveal and then 3 days later my baby will be ELEVEN months old. I think I may cry
